    Company description
    METALURGICA TRANSILVANA AIUD PRESENTATION

Aiud is documentary attested since 1293. For more than two centuries, until 1929, it was the Capital town of the Downstream Alba County.
Transformed into a municipal city in 1994, Aiud has now 31.000 inhabitants.
The existence in the city, since the XVIIIth century, of a tradition in the locksmith and carpentry production organised in guilds, lead to the formation in 1894, of a locksmith and building materials???‚¬?„? plant, which has developed in the present metalworking company.
In 1931 it was transformed into the ???‚¬?“GENIUS???‚¬?? factory for technical products, with headquarters in Brasov, and since 1933 in Aiud is certified the existence of the ???‚¬?“Engineer A. I. Stoica Technical Laboratory???‚¬?? which manufactures, besides pressed goods and metallic packages, equipment for the army???‚¬?„?s endowment.
In 1948, the factory has been reorganised and has functioned under the name of ???‚¬?“Aiud???‚¬?„?s Rapid Factory???‚¬?? and had as manufacturing profile, pumps and equipment for fire brigades, locksmith tools, metallic wheelbarrows, simple agricultural machines, cast iron consumer???‚¬?„?s goods.
Since 1951, the factory was registered as a maintenance and repair workshop for rolling equipment, subordinate to the ???‚¬?“Iron and Steel Company???‚¬?? Hunedoara, being reshaped on repairs for railway engines, freight cars, casting cars, mining cars and cable cars.
Consequently, at the end of 1954, the factory became a production unit with its own financial administration under the name of ???‚¬?“Aiud???‚¬?„?s Metalworking Plant???‚¬??, having as manufacturing profile the rolling equipment???‚¬?„?s repair for the entire Iron and Steel industrial sector.
Starting with 1958, the plant specialises in spare parts, equipment, metallic structures manufacturing, for the Iron and Steel, Metalworking and Machines???‚¬?„? Engineering Industry.
The investments made between 1966-1970 were mainly directed towards the development of hot sector, especially the centrifugal casting, the metallic structures???‚¬?„? construction and the technological equipment manufacturing.
1970-1980 is the period for the factory to profit of another 2 development stages, having as results the extension of the existing manufacturing capacities, increase of the integration
degree, new products of high technology being inserted. It is the period for the factory to be considered as ???‚¬?“The Chief Engineer ???‚¬?“ of the Romanian Metalworking and Iron and Steel Industry. In December 2006, S.C. Metalurgica Aiud sold its assets and commercial fund to S.C. Remarul 16 Februarie S.A. CLUJ NAPOCA, company with 100% private capital.
So it was founded REMARUL METALURGICA AIUD as Work point of S.C. Remarul 16 Februarie S.A. CLUJ NAPOCA.

In 2008 REMARUL METALURGICA AIUD changed the name in METALURGICA TRANSILVANA AIUD.

Metalurgica Transilvana Aiud is an integrated company, having at its disposal primary sectors that ensure static and centrifugal casting, forging, heat treatment, mechanic and welded assembling and machining sectors.
