Characters: There are two kinds of cis-and trans isomers, and more generally for trans, White to light yellow crystal or colorless to pale yellow liquid. sweet, balsamic with fruity nuances, reminiscent of cinnamon and strawberry odor, cinnamon, sweet, balsamic, heavy-fruity, strawberry like aroma. MP 34.5℃. Refractive index (21℃): 1.5670. Relative density (20℃): 1.0711. Soluble in alcohol, ether, acetone and benzene and other organic solvents, insoluble in water.
Nature: Exist in the galangal, basil leaves, bay leaf, daffodils.
Preparation: Cinnamic acid and methanol esterification.
Usage: mainly used for the preparation of cherry, strawberry and grape flavors. For the fragrance industry as a fixative agent, commonly used in the deployment of carnation, cherry, strawberry and grapes oriental floral fragrance for soaps, detergents, flavors and cakes are also used.
